The US dollar index closed up slightly at 97.064, and the British pound was successfully led by Teresa May in a confidence vote, closing at 1.2655. International spot gold was affected by the rise of the US dollar index, but it was steady at above $1240 per ounce and eventually closed at around $1242.06 per ounce.
